agent...

Andie Smith has been obsessed with books from a young age. Growing up reading above her grade level in school, she was the girl who always had her nose in a book. When she discovered the agonizing pain of a book hangover after finishing a favorite series, Andie quickly learned she wanted to pursue a career in literature so she could be stuck in her favorite worlds forever. She has previously served as a writer and editor for several local newspapers and magazines in Central Florida. In 2022, she interned at Booker Albert Literary and was promoted to junior agent in 2023. After graduating with her Master’s in Public Administration, Andie joined the team at CMA in 2025. As an autoimmune advocate, she is passionate about working with authors who share a deep connection with their characters and embrace life through all disabilities, even the invisible ones. She is still growing her list and welcoming authors to join her team.

I especially love voice-driven stories that transport me to a new world, even if it’s a modern one. Strong character development, immersive worldbuilding, and emotional response go a long way and will keep me captivated from beginning to end. Bonus points if it deals with themes of sustainability/environmentalism. If your story is cozy or campy with an upmarket/commercial hook, send it my way.

I’m passionate about representing underrepresented voices including but not limited to BIPOC, queer, disabled, and neurodivergent authors across any genre on my list.

I’m not looking for picture books, graphic novels, or nonfiction at this time. In any age range, I’m not the best fit for slasher horror, hard science fiction, or regency romance and historical fiction.

some of my favorite (non-client) authors

Sarah Dessen, Suzanne Young, Jenny Han, Tracy Deonn, Carley Fortune, Emily Henry, Dustin Thao, Stephanie Garber, Jennifer L. Armentrout, Holly Black, Hannah Nicole Maeher, Karen M. McManus

what kind of writing inspires me?

I love immersive, atmospheric writing that draws me in right away and keeps my attention from beginning to end. The inciting incident is key for me, I love when it is clear and when it packs a punch. I especially adore:

  • Strong character arcs and fleshed out development on the page; rooting for an underdog or falling in love with the villain.
  • Hard-hitting one-liners that make me laugh out loud, cry, or swoon a thousand times over.
  • Powerful imagery and setting; feeling completely transported into the world even if it’s a modern one.

what I love about my job...

The light bulb moment when one piece of feedback I provide illuminates a thousand other ideas in an author’s mind. It’s a beautiful thing to watch and the greatest honor to play a role in. I love being a partner and champion for authors and stories that remind me why I have the coolest job in the world.
